Meet Cody Beebe
Major: Civil engineering
Goal: Performing and recording original music
Cody credits his Regents Scholarship with helping him strike the perfect balance between academics and creativity at WSU. Not only is he doing well in a demanding major, he also has been able to pursue his passion for music.
Living on campus in the residence halls was a key part of his WSU experience. "A whole floor of us became friends," says Cody. "We still hang out. Even when I moved off campus, I moved with some of my original roommates."
He formed an acoustic rock band with his residence hall neighbors, won the WSU Battle of the Bands, opened for national recording artist Ari Hest, and has landed gigs statewide. He is signed to a growing independent label, Vicarious Rex, which was founded by a recently graduated WSU business student, and has released a solo album, Verbs.
His plan for the immediate future is to perform and tour as much as possible to support his new album and see where his music can take him.
Cody is proof that though the Pullman community may be relatively small, creativity thrives here.

“I had a strong background in science and math, so engineering was a good fit, and I played music in high school, so I knew I wanted to do that here too. The friends and connections I’ve made here, I wouldn’t change for anything.”
