About The Scholarships
There are two levels of Regents Scholar awards:
- Regents Scholar: $10,000 per academic year for four years
- Regents Semifinalist: $6,000 per academic year for four years
All Regents Scholarships are renewable for four years.
The University considers the following elements in awarding Regents Scholarships:
- Academic achievement: High academic achievement is a major factor. Most students who win these scholarships will have earned at least a 3.8 high school GPA (unweighted) after six terms. Scores on the SAT or ACT are also factored into the award decision.
- Community, civic, and co-curricular involvement
- Recommendation from high school or Native American Tribal Council: Students are encouraged to ask a high school counselor, teacher, coach, principal, or Native American council member for a recommendation. Recommendations are not required. However, the additional information about a student's achievements and potential can make a big difference in the awarding process.
Renewal and combining with other scholarships
The awards are subject to yearly renewal requirements: continuous enrollment (fall and spring semester each academic year), a minimum 3.2 cumulative grade point average per academic year, and completion of at least 24 graded credits each year.
Regents Scholar awards cannot be combined with the University Achievement Award (UAA). However, you may earn more than one scholarship from WSU, and many other scholarships can be awarded along with Regents Scholar awards.
