Regents Scholars Program

The Scholarship

How the Regents Scholars program works.

Washington State University partners with eligible high schools across the state of Washington and with participating Native American tribes to reward high-achieving high school juniors for their hard work and accomplishments. Each year, principals and tribal chairs may nominate two qualified juniors for the Regents Scholars program. All eligible nominees who complete the application process receive substantial scholarship awards.

The University sends a call for nominations to eligible high schools and participating tribes in March, and nominations close in May. Specific opening and closing dates will be published in the Call for Nominations and listed here in March.

This year's round of scholarship awards will be available to students who are high school juniors in the 2007-2008 academic year. The awards will be effective fall semester 2009 at Washington State University in Pullman.

Each high school and tribal office can choose which of its eligible students to nominate for Regents Scholar awards. For example, here is how two schools nominated students who recently won Distinguished Regents Scholarships.
