Regents Scholars Program

Washington State University's premier scholarship program

The Washington State University Regents Scholars Program recognizes outstanding high school students and rewards them with substantial scholarships—so the state's best students have an incentive to stay in Washington for their college education.

Students at WSU engage and learn from leaders in a wide variety of academic fields, developing the innovation and creativity needed to lead the state of Washington, the nation, and the world.

For educators and tribal representatives

Recommendations are now open. Help your most outstanding students win Regents Scholarships by sending recommendations to WSU.

Make your recommendations as early as possible, and urge your students to complete the WSU scholarship and admission applications.

Scholarships are open to students who are seniors in high school and are Washington residents. Awards are based primarily on academic merit, though other factors are considered (more about eligibility and awards).

For students

If you're a high school senior with a strong academic record, ask someone at your school to recommend you for a Regents Scholarship. (If you identify with a Native American tribe that has a presence in the state of Washington, contact your tribal leaders, too.)

A recommendation isn't required to win a Regents Scholarship, but it will make a positive difference in your chances.

When you complete the WSU admission and scholarship applications, you'll automatically be considered for Regents Scholarships.

The Regents Scholars Program has changed

Applying is simpler, more students are eligible for more support, and the selection process is more flexible. Among the new features:

  • All Regents Scholarships are now four-year awards.
  • Educators and tribal representatives can now recommend as many students for scholarships as they wish.
  • Students now become eligible for Regents Scholarships in their senior year of high school (when they apply to WSU), rather than as juniors.
